Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
