In a distinct essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
